How can life be captured but also captivated by a camera

I've been near photography since the beginning of my life my father's family has a long tradition with photography. My father is a dentist but also a photographer and a very good one by the way and I have a fascination of photographing objects, monuments or strangers, sometimes I also take pictures of myself but I like using different views. I love photography but to be true to myself I don't think I would like it that much (just like cooking) if it was my full time job. So again I might sabotage myself not using my natural talents. Anyway the other day I went with my friend Laura to San Ildefonso. Originally we were going to watch Guillermo Kahlo's (Yes, Frida's father) and Henry Greenwood Peabody exposition called: "Dos miradas a la arquitectura monumental" which would mean two views of monumental architecture photography and how both captured Mexico trough a lens one just like an inventory of monuments and the other with the building in it's own context. We found there that Rene Burri's work is being exhibited there. I can just say I loved his work and how from being a graphic reporter he got his very particular view of things and worked from it. I could see some images of war, artists, and even Mexico that captivated me some people dismiss photography as an art but I could just tell them that what makes the difference. "The magic" Is the view of the artist trough the lens that only view that an artist has. The speachless image that communicates all.
